What's my best (cheapest) bet?

Buy another HD? How do I know what's compatible? Hitachi Travelstar 08K0 is what's in there now).

Small distro of LInux on a memory stick (I have a 512 MB one)?

Some kind of external hard drive?

Thanks

I know if you use a boot cd that has usb drivers on it, you can get to usb devices. I've imaged machines from a usb hard drive. When you hit f12 during startup and it gives you the list of choices for what to boot from, is one of them a usb device?

If so, use a usb key or usb harddrive. I've got a great 60 gig that is iomega, that uses a laptop hd and doesn't require external power. Actually bought it through Dell.

If not, try updating to the latest bios and see if it's added. I know the D610 and GX280 both support it, not sure about the D600.

Yes, a USB device IS listed in BIOS. SO I can boot from my 512 MB memory stick or a USB HD? How much does a ~3G USB HD run?
