I was looking into getting a 1 GHz Thunderbird, just wondering what the best all around motherboard is for it, and also, what the best valued motherboard for it is.

Thanks.

I personally think the MSI K7T Pro2 A is a hell of a value. Someone said they were buying them for $99 + shipping the other day somewhere. :)

Best value full-size ATX mainboard would be the DFI AK74EC. Sound and VIA 686B UDMA100 onboard, o/c jumpers, no nonsense, low price, good performer. Coming soon AK74AC with 133 MHz CPU bus capable KT133A north bridge.

Cheapest of them all is MicroATX form factor ECS K7VZM, even cheaper, coming with 10/100 LAN and sound onboard and an included AMR modem card.

Another vote for the MSI K7T Pro2-A. Some say you can find them with the higher grade silver capacitors. :)

Thanks for responding, guys. I currently have an HP, onboard everything, so I am looking to upgrade to a Thunderbird. I need (obviously) the motherboard and processor, a graphics card, and a video card. I was trying to figure out a good motherboard, with nothing onboard, but which takes most advantage of the processor.

Again, thanks for responding.

I agree that the Microstar boards are the best quality.
Remember-cheaper doesn't always mean better! I tried a Biostar socket-A
board, and it was nothing but trouble from day 1. Was never able to get the USB ports to work.
Dollar for dollar Microstar is the best value and highest quality.
