I have been using 3dMax99 from Madonion and have become very familiar with its way of scoring and I compare all my different setups with it. However, is there a better benchmark program to determine performance for cpu/3d performance? I would like something that I could download for free.

On the same note, I got a 3dMax99 score of 13,200 cpu marks and 6000 3d marks with a Athlon 800/K7V mobo and Voodoo5 5500 setup; however, with my Duron 600/KT7 mobo and Voodoo5 5500 set up both scores dropped to 9000 cpu marks and 4800 3d marks respectively. Is something wrong here? The scores on my Duron setup seem so low and I am using the same Video card and ram. I didnt think my Duron would score that much lower; especially since I am using ATA100 mobo.

ATA100 Does almost nothing for benchmarks.

Also remember that the duron is slighly slower than hte comparable speed Athlon/T-bird.

Download Prime95 and run for 48hrs. If you dont get an error than your fine, however if you do then backdown on overclocking. I've been able to detect errors with this that other programs didnt catch.

To check stability issues, Prime95 is a good tool as stated by Enigma.
The other popular benchmarks are Sisoft Sandra and of course, Quake3 Arena Demo!
