Best beginning to a movie

my brother once told me the thing he likes best about a movie is the beginning.
All movies are different, but most run for a few minutes before showing the advance
credits - Director, Actors, Name of the Movie.

So what's your favorite?

Reservoir Dogs has a great beginning. Quentin's take on Madonna's "Like a Virgin"
is just too funny. And Mr. Pink's (Steve Buscemi) aversion to tipping cracks me up
every time. And then they go to black and Stephen Wright's voice over the music
is excellent.

From Dusk 'til Dawn has an excellent intro too, but i won't go in to details :)

so what's yours?

A Tarentino fun, huh? I love his movies.....

Anyway, all Bond movies have a pretty cool beginning.

You know what DOESN'T have a good beginning, middle, or end? The movie Zero Effect.

should take the into consideration ;)

Okay, someone has to say it....the beginning of "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings" is one of my favorite movie beginnings of all time. I love the battle scene...and Sauron totally rocked!

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (the, okay, I'm going to misspell this, Kobiashi Maru scene)

And what's with all this praise for Gladiator? Way overrated and Russell Crowe got the Oscar for that only as a makeup call for not giving it to him for The Insider.

My list (not in any particular order)

2001: A space odyssey (20 minutes without dialogue! It's different! I love it!)

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (The only movie whose opening-credits only are better than most other movies as a whole)

Bond-movies in general

Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th Dimension - You just cannot beat the music to this one as they're prepping the jet car!

All time favorite is:

Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

It starts with a black screen and a little sound for about 30 sec. and then BANG it is full of sound and a white screen that drops you into a sandstorm in the middle of the desert.

It sure wakes you up! :D

Gone in 60 seconds.

"Hold on, I have to go get my tool."
"That's not a tool, that's a damn brick!"
CRASH!
"Get the keys."
