I work for an engineering company where I do a lot of PDF file renaming. I batch scan dozens (or hundreds) of drawings from the copier/scanner and send them to my computer. Then, using a PDF splitter, I split each drawing into single files. But the PDF splitter assigns its own file names to each document. However, for my work, the PDF file name needs to be the actual engineering drawing number itself (located on the drawing), so I end up having to rename each file manually.
This can get tedious.
Are there any good, easy to use bulk file renamers that could speed things up for me? I've checked out Bulk File Renamer http://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php and Advanced Renamer http://www.advancedrenamer.com/ but can't seem to make heads or tails of them.
I need to rename files sequentially, and often incompletely (ie. there can often be drawing numbers missing eg. 1,3,5,6,7,8).
I also need to then record the PDF file names onto an Excel spreadsheet. Is there a way to copy and paste just the PDF file names?
Thanks for any suggestions.
