Ive gathered most of my home theater shamelessly from abandon buildings, or things thrown out on the street or in allyways. I once scavenged several high quality receiver units from a building that was going to be demolished. Another building I got 8 speakers from, which I loaded up into my truck. They were really nice. There was 10 of them, but 2 were blown out pretty bad, so I left them. Anyone practice this? I think I got it from my father, he used to pull over on roads anytime he saw something laying there. I always laughed at him when I was a kid, but now I find myself doing very similar things. Haha ;)

The president of my Dad's company would go dumpster diving with his wife on the weekends in the college town he lived in. He was pulling 7 figures back in the '90's and still did the diving for deals. :)

I picked up the speaker stands (that are under my center channel) from the side of the road. That's about it. About half my equipment is used, but not free ;)
