Best bang for the buck vid card available right now?

I want to revive my gaming machine that's sitting in a closet, but it's in need of some upgrading. I don't want to spend a whole hell of a lot of money... what would you recommend for a cost effective video card?

i think the "best bang for the buck" cards right now are the 6600gt and the x700xt, however those are pci-express only, i think the 6600gt is coming out w/AGP sometime in november. at $200, those cards are almost the same performance wise as 6800nu, which is a bit under $300. if you're looking for a previous generation card, i'd say a 9600pro/xt. a 9700pro of ebay his a decent deal, although these arent as good deals as the newest.

I believe they said the 6600GT would be more on-par with the 9800 Pro's. The 128 bit bus cripples the card, IMO.

They're 128 bit? What? This is news to me. The benchmarks showed them well above the 9800 Pro.

That's cuz they got a higher clock speed, higher memory clock, and GDDR3 RAM.
