best bang for the buck speakers

If you get a really good deal on eBay you could get the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1s or Logitech Z2300s for $60 or less. I got my Promedias for $60 almost brand new on eBay 🙂
 
Why anyone would make (or buy) a computer speaker system with controls, etc. on the sub is beyond me. What are you supposed to do, put the sub on the top of the desk?

I'm using a Logitech z-230 2.1 set; can be found for $30-40 (got mine for 20 ar). Pretty decent if you are on a tight budget, and available most everywhere.
 
I bought a set of ALTEC LANSING VS2221 speakers for a friend about a year ago. I was impressed by the sound quality that they made. NewEgg has them for about $40, but if you look around, you can get them for less than $30.
