My bro's ecs board died and we're looking for the best bang for the buck board for old core2duo 6300, agp video card and ddr2 ram. I haven't been following the tech scene for the past couple years. Thanks

I'd never have thought anyone would produce a C2D-capable mobo with both AGP and PCI-E. I'd assumed that AGP was day-ud!

AGP will never die, gigabyte recently released an AGP 4650, so it's still alive and kicking.

The question is whether using the existing AGP card is worthwhile. It is likely to be from 2006 or possibly 2007 which means that it needs to be a high-end card to be more useful than decent MB GPU like the 9400. You can also get decent GPUs for not a lot of money (like a 4670) and at least make your setup a lot more flexible and is also likely to lower power consumption, heat and noise.

What is this AGP card that is worth saving?

Just buy a recent P43 motherboard cheap and grab a 9600GSO (there was an ASUS model with 768MB RAM for $35AR recently - deal may still be on at newegg - too lazy to check).

That's going to be better than practically any AGP card from a few years ago.
