I currently have a 4 bay Sans Digital Tower Raid that's done the job but was highly frustrated to find out that it was basically useless for any new higher capacity drives nearly right away after buying it. The supported per drive capacity is 1TB.
I spent some time with Sans Digital support/service and there's no way to upgrade a firmware to enable higher support and their answer was to buy another model, not very happy with them.
That said, I can't seem to find any good alternative brands that offer good bang for the buck for DAS/Direct Attached Storage enclosures.
Is there a way to build your own for less with greater future proofing that I'm not aware of?
Are there any other brands to consider?
