Best bang for the buck AM3 CPU for F@H???

I was able to pick up an ECS IC780M-A2 while Newegg had them for $20 after rebate. The only problem is I have been out of the AMD game for so long that I have no idea what AM3 CPU is the best bang for the buck.

Is unlocking a X3 the way to go or just go big and go to a hex core?

The 960 is nice since it is a black edition, so it makes overclocking simple.
I recently purchased a 960 and the bios shows 6 cores, however Ubuntu only shows 5. Still, not bad for what I paid. 5 cores at 3.6ghz.
