Best bang for the buck 7600GS (Silent)

This is my narrowed search:

GIGABYTE GV-NX76G256D-RH Geforce 7600GS 256MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125028

Leadtek WinFast PX7600GS TDH 256MB Classic Edition Geforce 7600GS 256MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122007

XFX PVT73PUDJ3 Geforce 7600GS 256MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150170

The leadtek card has a slower mem clock speed (700, others @ 800), however, the core clock is at 490 (faster than Gigabyte, which is at 450. But I don´t know how much it would affect performance). The XFX card must be the standard, not XT edition cause neweggg doesnt point that, I like the two DVI ports on that.

Please help me choose one.

Thanks!

Best

The 7600GS at least supports SM3 fully orangat. I think that how good a gamer it is depends on the game and the settings it must operate under (resolution, amount of AA and AF, stuff like that).

hmm i think the 7600gs is a great card. $100 what a good deal.

I would say a 7600GT is better than a x800xt and cheaper... but that is me.

Anandtech has just proclaimed the Gigabyte 7600GS to be the best balance of price and performance in its recent silent GPU roundup. I would go with that one if I wanted to buy now. I understand you want a passive heatsink model.

But if you are planning to wait a little, there is an even better 7600GS coming soon:

ASUS EN7600GS TOP SILENT/HTD/512M

I really like the Reverse Cool design of the heatsink and the fact that it has much faster core and memory than the standard 7600GS. It reaches 85% of the performance of the 7600GT, vs 65% for a regular 7600GS

Here is a review

You can discount the article's reference to the 7300GT being superior to the 7600GS, as they are comparing to overclocked 7300GT models that are not available in North America.

The same Hardwarezone.com web site also has a review of the passive heatsink Gigabyte 7600GS, except that this newer model is HDCP compatible and has a HDMI output. Apart from this, it is identical to the one on Newegg, reviewed by Anandtech.

Well, guys, thanks for the advice, is very appreciated.

The main use for my PC is going to be music production. Thats why I chose a silent graphics card, a silent mb (Gigabyte 965P DS3) and an almost silent PSU (Enermax Liberty 400W). That doesn´t mean I dont like to play games, in fact I would like it to be very good at that, but as you would understand, there are so many expensive things one should buy in a studio setup, like audio interface ($300), studio monitors ($500) and mics ($200).

Thats why I chose a medium performing card. I´ve had good experience with the Leadtek 6600GT. I´m based in the anandtech review about silent cards. The jump from there to a 6600GT silent would be like $60, and I dont know if that FPS difference would be worth those $60.

Check this, please 7600GT(S?) for $130 but not passive.

Any thoughts about the comparison on speeds I put in the first post?

I like the 2 DVi ports cause I´m planning in the future to add another LCD for having the sample editing program in one and the main sequencer on other (nice!!!), and it has been said that DVi gives better quality than a standard D-Sub port.

Thanks!

Best

Your first post is all about the 7600GS. Now you are looking at a 7600GT. I have seen a lot of benchmarks of these 2 cards: The performance of the GS is about 65% of the GT...more or less in line with the price difference.

That 7600GST is all-new. It has the 7600GT's reference clocks. It's really inexpensive, almost 7600GS-inexpensive. Looks like a great deal. It has the "reference" cooler which is known for being less-than-quiet. How important is it for you to have a totally quiet videocard...That is the question.
