Oh yeah sorry, I intended to compare it to the i3-2100.

I had an opportunity to buy the i3-2100 retail with a Biostar mobo for $150.

Maybe I should just take that deal, and return the watercooler...

SB anything? Clock for clock? Sure. But you have to think about all of the factors:

Cost, needs, overclockability, upgrade path.

H61/67 boards can use 2500K/2600K but you still can't overclock on those boards.

Upgrade path? Buy a new motherboard.
If you're going to get in the overclocking/performance realm of computer enthusiasm, why are you going to try to hold on to old parts when you upgrade? The only thing that can feasibly be used for a completely new system is hardd drives for data storage. Now that SSD's are $100 for 64GB, there's really no reason to not get one for your OS. IF you can't afford that, then you are in the wrong hobby.

Sandy 2500 non K version. If you want to OC the heck out of system then you need to get the unlocked K vesrion 2500k ,, good luck on your choice.
