pink floyd

does not meet the criteria smart guy.

If you count the stones, you gotta count Floyd.......

HOW? They don't tour and I haven't seen an album of new material in years!

they played a show this year and they have not disbanded. which would mean that they are indeed still a band.

Fine, then my vote goes to The Police.

Pink Floyd is definitely not in the criteria

We're talking a band that never broke up for an extended time
and does have most of it's original members

One time reunions don't count or you could throw in Cream, The Stooges,
and a bunch of others

Red Hot Chili Peppers of course!

They have not lost their edge as much as other bands have. Aerosmith and the Stones as great as they are can't be counted on for too much longer, as both bands are getting up there in age. Metallica's last album got horrible reviews. U2 is formulaic at this point. AC/DC is a joke to say the least. Suffice it to say music is is a poor state right now.

Not really, there's a lot of good new or newer bands out there, just listen to the Alternative stations.

How about Nirvana? Sure Cobain's dead but the other two formed the Foo Fighters which IMO blow away Nirvana and probably are the best of the current popular bands today so actually Foo Fighters= Nirvana.
