Best AV software for Laptop?

i use free avast antivirus (suppose it's a Czech developer - not sure ) - impressed by the almost no changes in performace. Used Kaspersky before - makes any computer a pentium 1 🙂

MacOS X 😉

Seriously, if it's a Windows laptop, try something like AVG Free Edition or Avast, like Lila recommended.

I'd check out AVG free edition, it doesn't slow down your computer so much, although it's detection rating is not as high as some others...

Antivirus software runs the same on a laptop as it does on a desktop. I'd use Norton or McAfee.

NOD32, definetely runs the lightest and has a very good detection rate. Not quite as easy of an interface as NAV.

Second vote for NOD32. Very light on system resources, very good detection rate. I don't know what kind of "interface" you need. Install the program. It will update immediately and keep updating without your intervention (assuming you have broadband). You can run a scan every now and then if you want to, which BTW is a HELLUVA lot faster with NOD32 than any other company.

My school recommends Sophos Antivirus and gives it as free download... don't want viruses clogging the wireless network.
Is it good? I don't see reviews for it.
