If you're going to be a bastard like that, do it manually. Jeez, people are so lazy these days.

Bidding when the auction is about to end so you can outbid the current high bidder without driving the price up early in the auction. It essentially makes it pointless to have auctions, as an auction is intended to sell an item for its actual market value - what people are willing to pay for it. Auction snipers try to low-ball hoping that the person didn't set their max bid very high. It's no wonder that the Buy It Now option is so popular.

Ahhh thanks for the explanation
This may be why some of my ebay items inexplicable sell for %20 below what they normally do every now and then :(
Any way to stop this?

:confused:I use sniping because I don't want to bid till the end and I am not always near my computer.

Yeah, you don't want to bid until the end because God forbid you pay a fair price for the item. It never used to be that way on eBay. People would bid until the price was higher than they wanted to pay - the fair market value of the item. I can understand wanting a deal, but everyone wants something for nothing these days, and it has made eBay a very unpleasant place.

Edit: Auction sites like uBid that extend the length of the auction if someone bids at the very end have the right idea.

AuctionStealer.com (currently down for me) is our favorite but it's VERY unreliable. So if you REALLY want the item, I would consider using another sniper service.

JustSnipe.com (works for me) not as great interface as auctionstealer but has been very reliable and works.

RossMAN, you didn't have any qualms about entering your ebay username and password into JustSnipe? Apparently I'm not as trusting.

Yes but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Just in case we changed the eBay password to something we have never used.

That way just in case the password is compromised it isn't a password we use anywhere else.
