There was a time, few years back, that I was totally against an antivirus. My argument was that I didn't have anything important in there and I'd rather take the risk than to have an antivirus that took up half my processor and memory.

However, in recent times, virus-es have become extremely clever and seem to get in my PC without me intentionally executing any executable files as such. That coupled with much faster processors and increasing memory sizes, have prompted me to change my position on this. I now think an antivirus is extremely important and vital part of each and every computer.

What are your opinions on the current antivirus packages out there? Which do you think stands out in terms of cost and effectiveness?
