Best antivirus software?

What Antivirus software do you consider best? By best, I am mainly thinking of two categories:

- Efficiency - does not hog a lot of resources
- Effectiveness - catches all viruses

I've been mostly looking at the "big corporation" antivirus suites (ie: Norton AV 2002...) but I've read mixed reviews, with most of the complaints being about it's unstability and resource hogging. If there are better, but less well-known software, that you could recommend, I would try it out.

Thanks,

Geoff

I've started using Norton Anti-Virus 2002 (part of Systemworks 2002) and I've been pretty happy with it. The review I read said it used very little CPU time compared to other AV programs. I have not found it to be unstable at all. You can get it for about $20 shipped from Newegg.

I also vote for AVG. It's "A Very Good" anti-virus program. ;)
I wonder if that's what it stands for.
