I don't know about best but I will definitely put French in Worst category. I've studied a little bit of German, Spanish, Latin, and of course French and of those, the latter was by far the most annoying.

I enjoyed studying German and Latin. Spanish was blaise for me.

Best: definitely French, second runner ups: Spanish & Italian.
Worst: There are tons of pathetic languages, any Scandinavian language is a good candidate, but German is the true "winner".
Most difficult to learn: got to be Japanese and Chinese

hindi is very different from tamil. and mandarin is different from cantonese

I think english is one of the worst languages. No pronounciation rules, too many weird-sounding, weirdly-spelled words.

Best: Italian or French
Worst: Arabic or Anything Nordic (I had a Norwegian roommate. Absolutely hideous).

Best language group would have to be any Slavic language, especially Russian. I speak Polish and a little Russian so I'm biases 🙂

Worst: Japenese (very hard to learn all of the characters and pronunciations).
