I have had an HP 40" monitor for the last 8 years, it finally gave up the ghost. I really got used to the size and need to replace it, but for a budget under $600 US.

There are many that are XXXX x 1080, XXXX x 1440, and higher.

I don't game nearly as much as I used to, but when I do, they are mostly shooters. I have started playing some games over again too, like the Crysis and Far Cry games.

Will I notices a big difference in picture quality from 1080 to 1200. 1440 or higher?

I know my card cannot run ULTRA settings in 4k from doing some research, HIGH settings is as low as I would like to go.

I have done some research but would like to get some other opinions on the largest (inch wise) and best picture my GTX 970 can push...Thanks!

IMO these monitors are overpriced since their resolution is 2560x1080. All of these monitors should be at least 3440x1440 for that price range.

Go to this site: SlickDeals.net
Search for 144hz (better yet, set up an account and create an alert for the search term "144hz" so you get an email when a deal is posted).

Here is a deal that was posted last month... that LG in your list with a free game for $499:

Maybe I just don't appreciate the refresh rate enough, but I got my 40" 4K for close to these prices.

Also one more comment on the 970 since that is the card I have... I was happy with the performance on the 4K myself.. I don't demand the best performance, just a good experience. And out of the games I play (which none are super demanding, most demanding is probably the new Doom) I was easily able to find settings I was happy with.

I only quit using the 4K because the monitor was just too big for me at 40". Speaking of which, I would sell that for less than $600 haha.
