You may have seen my other post regarding my Epox 8RDA+ that seems to have gone DOA for no apparent reason. I am in the middle of trying to figure out how to RMA it and whether to send it to Epox or back to NewEgg. If anyone has any suggestions on how to go about that it would be highly appreciated as well.

Depending on the outcome I may be in the market for a new m/b and I wanted to know what would be your suggestions for a replacement board if all of this falls through and I just need to buy a new one. I was relatively pleased with the Epox board but there were some things I wished it had. Such as support for 400 FSB and VDD adjustments. What are your suggestions? The 8RDA+ Ultra sounds fantastic but I don't know if that is just a rumor or not.

I understand that newegg is now shipping the Ultra when you order an 8RDA+.

The best mobos I've ever used, including real support and a cross shipping RMA (though you have to pay up front, and are refunded when they receive the RMA back) are from FIC. I've put numerous ones into client machines, because I know they usually run for years with NO problems.

What has been your experience RMA'ing an Epox M/B? What is my best option? Deal with Epox or NewEgg? I looked at the NewEgg RMA procedure and my order doesn't come up becuase I ordered it so long ago...about 6 months ago. Epox sent me an email stating that it takes 3+ weeks to REPAIR the board? Is it possible to cross ship with them? I'd rather have a new one of course? Even better yet I'd like an Ultra version. Wishful thinking I guess.

My entire order history is available from Newegg dating back to my first transaction in 2001 so you should have access to your's as well.

Never had to. But I did try to contact Epox once, and pretty much got no reply. Don't get me wrong, I like my 8RDA+. But if it dies, I'll seriously consider going to a different vendor.

How did you access it? When I try to start an RMA I enter my userid & password.... Only a few items that I purchased within 90 days comes up.

Just go to order status and there will be a link that says " Click here for your completed order history".

Ok, I found it. It was under an older email address. Thanks!

So should I deal with NewEgg or Epox? Opinions?

I had good luck with rma-ing direct to newegg. I suggest calling, first get a cup of coffee and a newspaper... but they're really helpful in person.

pspada: I heard FIC makes epox 8rda+ boards. Is that truth or urban legend? Also how are the FIC nforce 2 boards at overclocking?

Sorry to steal the thread here - really - I just keep seeing your posts and wanted to ask you, you seem to know.

For reference, the Ultra still appears to be the rev 1.1 8RDA+, not the much-talked-about-but-not-yet-seen rev2.

How about 8RDA3, NF-7-S, A7NFX Deluxe & others or should I just try to stick with the 8RDA+

Another silly question.... If I swap out the m/b for a different one is Windows XP and my HDD's going to have a fit or will I just cruise right along once I configure the BIOS correctly?

Asus is headquartered in hell and run by the devil. So I don't recommend Asus equipment.

Contrary to other comments, I strongly suggest ASUS for o/c. NF7-S is a serious bet also, and you will not be dissapointed. If you have enough money, then DFI Lan Party NFII is the right choice. Any nForce II motherboard is highly stable and capable of good o/c. Epox is 'nice'. Just that.

no 8RDA+

my experience :

No real fail-safe feature when OCing fails.(I had a bios checksum error and had to buy a floppy drive to revive the board..total crap)
Booting with the insert key pressed doesn't work half time, meaning I have to reset the cmos.(pain in the butt)
