Best AMD Motherboard for gaming?

Hey, I'm building a computer for my friend, and he's an avid gamer. I'd appreciate some suggestions on what motherboard I should get him for an AMD system. I'm looking for performance but it can't be extremely expensive. Also, if it's a VIA chipset, let me know because I'd have to change his sound card. Thanks.

Plenty of good boards based on nForce,VIA,SiS chipsets etc for AMD processors that are excellent for gaming, so I will start with my personal experience with my own board that I use for hardcore gaming,it`s an Epox 8KHA+ with SB Audigy (Santa Cruz is another good choice for sound card) ,never had any problems in gaming ,I would go with an Nvidia based card for video card because the drivers are excellent.

As to other chipsets and brands well I`ll let the other members here that own those post their comments on their boards for gaming.
