Best AMD CPU for Soyo SY-KT600 Dragon Plus MB?

Does the KT600 chipset have a pci/agp lock? I do not think it does, so you are going to be limited on fsb if it does not. NF2 boards may be a better overclocking choice if you are going for high fsb. Also regular XP's are now multiplier locked, so go mobile.

i have(had) a kt600 dragon plus, it was a terriible overclocker.. in fact it wouldnt overclock stable at all, maybe 5mhz on the fsb.. there are no voltage options, no memory dividers or settings, no locks, no nothing.

i dont know if later revisions changed any of this, but the model I had was a great stock board, very stable that way, but overclocking was a no go.

i used a 2800+ barton on it, great chip, but the board was holding it back

edit: and wow is it really 0.00 after rebate? wtf i should order 5 at that price just because!

Thanks. Don't know if it has a pci/agp lock or not. Will Google it later.

I, too, wonder if "v2.0" of this board is better than the old versions. The ad *says* it is overclockable, if you can believe them.

And yes, FAR. Caveat is that it is Soyo, so YMMV, but supposedly follow-up on them & save paperwork and you'll be okay. I'm in for one.

Now to find some RAM and a case/PSU.
