Narrowing the vacation idea down to some sort of all-inclusive resort.

I've heard Punta Cana and Cozumel are really nice areas...

Budget is around ~$800-1,000 per person (including airfare)

Other info:
- Travel mid-March '05
- Early 20's couple
- Like to eat, like to drink
- Would like activities (scuba, horse back, jet ski, etc...)

Thanks for any info you can give me!!!

"Come visit DurocShark's Land!

Warm and comfortable, with the soothing sounds of traffic and children!

Don't pay $500 a night at some "Beaches" joint, when DurocShark's Land will give you even worse service for more!"

you are kind of pushing it with the budget. I would postpone until late april or early march or until october for the off-peak rates. Even then I don't think you can get anything decent in your price range.

I would be fearful of the quality (and safety!) of an all inclusive for $800-$1000 for what I'm assuming would be 2 people.

Come to San Diego. Enjoy our June gloom which usually extends from Feb to July for most of the days along the coast unless the Santa Anas are blowing in which case it will be hot and dry. The water will be freezing though and it's murky so don't expect to see much if you like diving!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort ... Mayan Riveria ... close to Cozumel, Cancun and has great facilities (and buffet!). Not too expensive either. Wife and I had a great time in December ... :)

Book the all-inclusives through Hotwire.

Stay in Cozumel....or better yet, Playa Del Carmen (across from Cozumel)!! PDC is really nice!

$800-$1000 per person? Or total.

You're going to have a tough time getting something nice for $1000 total.

No no, I was thinking per person, sorry

I think that's a fair budget.

I stayed @ the Bahia Principe Akumal and it was great. Mayan Riviera also.

Unfortunately that's the only one I've been to in Mexico and it cost us lot$.

Including or excluding air fare?

This is a great place. My wife and I had our honeymoon there a few years ago. Our total cost was about $3200 including roundtrip tickets from Minneapolis. But that was three and a half years ago, so I'm not sure what prices are now.

I think you might want a Cruise. My wife and I took a 7-day Carribean cruise for ~$1700 a few years back. You'll have to add a few hundred $$ in cash for the scuba, snorkling, tours, shopping, etc at each destination (optional.) We had fun and would like to do it again sometime. We went in mid-May and it was pretty darn warm in the Caribbean.

We hit KeyWest, Grand-Cayman, and Cozumel. I think it was this same tour, but later in the year. Something you might want to consider.

Cool. So you just want to stay at one of the destinations a bit longer, rather that flit around from port to port?

little out of your range, but this place was GODLY.

www.royalhideaway.com

its like mega expensive, all inclusive, in Playa Car Mexico, you can see cozumel across the ocean.

its something like a grand a night per person though or like 700$ or something outrageous. but it is worth it (of course, my family went for free, fathers employer paid for everything)
