Best "All in One" instant messaging program

I just realized I have AIM running and chat with a few people on it from time to time. This seems very out of date to be doing.

Is there an app that has all your "buddy lists" in one: AIM, facebook, msn, yahoo, etc....

I like Pidgin for Windows and Adium for OS X.

Digsby.

Over the years, I've tried them all. And Digsby is far and beyond the best one out there.

does pidgin still have the crash if you switch desktops bug?

cause that's why i switched to mirandaIM

But seriously, I've just never liked Trillian. Digsby has some awesome skins and themes, is pretty light weight, and works very well. I don't know what protocols Trillian supports, but I'd bet it's probably the same as Digsby. I've tried to use Trillian a few times over the years, but I couldn't ever get into it.

reason i ask as it looks like trillian also has an iphone app that is seamless wiht your lists and conversations so it would seemingly be a little bit better

I've been using Digsby for the last few years. I tried all the others, and settled on Digsby. It used to work great, now it runs like shit. Crashes on me every couple of days, runs extremely slow, the email widget thing sometimes takes up to 3 minutes to show me 1 email.

I've been using it since the very early stages, and it's never behaved that way. I can't even remember the last time it crashed on me.

On a side note, my once bustling AIM buddy list has dwindled to a ghost town. There's usually only about 5 or 6 people on now, and it's techy friends like myself who probably just leave it running out of nostalgia. AIM is the new ICQ, by the looks.

Pidgin for Windows and Adium for OS X.

IMO for iOS

Google Chat can actually add a lot of your other chat accounts into it so you just sign in there and it shows you on those other accounts as well.

I use Trillian, but I'm really not a fan of the way they distribute the new Pro version. Rather than have users pay for it like before ($20-30), you now purchase a time-based license which unlocks the pro features for that duration. I still use Trillian Astra Pro.

Chat ports are blocked at work, so meebo works great to get through pesky firewalls.

I run an Openfire server and prefer the Spark client for it over everything else. Pidgin/Gaim was always my go-to client for cross/account connections...but typically I always stayed native with chat clients. I got started on Gaim because it was the only real option for linux a few years back.
