I want to buy my brother a new video card for his one computer to play WoW with. I only want to spend around $100. Must be AGP. Please advise on what the best option would be. I prefer to buy from Newegg. The card he has in there died recently - it was only a Radeon 8500 so I'm sure we can get him a nice upgrade.

Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly. It's a Socket A - probably something like an Athlon 2400+. 2GB DDR. It's nothing really fancy.

well I am not sure what the best card is, but if you spend 125 to 130 instead of 100 you will be getting a much better card, unsure if it's worth it for that cpu thou, I will let others here advise you on that

You can always get better by spending more. Even a $100 card will be a big improvement over what he has/had.

You want to be sure to verify the power supply requirements for the new card and consider the cost of upgrading it when you start looking at better cards.

6600agp will run that game fine. It also has low power requirements so you'll be fine.
The card is well under a 100.00$

the miminum system is a 32meg card with a pent 3 800
The recommended system requires a FX5700 or 64 meg Direct x 9c video card.

256 bit memory, better user ratings, it's what I went for, only a bit over your ceiling, after MIR. I have one on order to replace my son's half dead 9800 Pro. I am hoping it will last longer than the two years the 9800 Pro did. I have had better luck with Nvidia cards overall.

I just got the Radeon X800GTO 256MB 256-bit card off newegg to replace my sons 9500 pro. He's very happy with it. All settings on highest for WoW and Counterstrike. Worth the extra $$'s IMHO ...... that GeForce 6800XT 256MB 256-bit would be a great choice as well.

The 6800XT is a piece of junk --actually *slower* than the regular 6800, 8 pipelines vs 12. Avoid it like the plague. High user ratings just mean a lot of other folks don't know they've been suckered.

Unless you're ready to deal with the hassles of open box, the x1650pro is as fast as you're going to get for $100.

A useful comparison of card capabilities is here.
