I just got done a job where a small business had a server that had a serious hardware malfunction. I was able to get the data onto an external drive which keeps them running but I think I am going to suggest a NAS rather than a new server. The owner stated that all the server did was hold data as the network application that used to run on it isn't used anymore. if all they need is a place to store stuff so multiple computers can access it i think a NAS is a cheaper and better solution. I'm not an expert in NAS devices and I'm not familiar with the best brands so I am hoping that you guys can point me in the right direction.
The overall amount of data is about 300 gb at this point. I would like the NAS to be at least raid 1 capable and budget is about 500 max.
