Hello

Someone just charged my card 1199.00 at bestbuy.com. I have already closed my card and talked with bestbuy.com. They told me open a police report and call them up. My bank is doing a dispute and closing my card.

What would be my best action at this point ?

Update 2-
Found out from bestbuy.com who ordered it.

Email address : heartdo@yahoo.com
Maurice Grant
7537 South Emerald Ave
Chicago, IL
Ph: 773-651-7003

When I do a reverse phone look up it says this:
David Barnett
7537 S Emerald Ave
Chicago, IL 60620
(773) 483-9819

Update 3-
What the scammer bought:

Order Date: 01/17/06

VISA************0016

Order Total:
$1,199.03

Update 4:
Called UPS, they said that the package has not been picked up.
Faxed information about the police report to Best Buy to see if they can cancel order before it has been picked up.

Update 5:
Added scammers email address

Update 6: More bad news
318.00 purchased at zales.com
I am going to try to see if they used the same names and address for purchasing.

Update 7: Some good news
Zales said that the card was used but it was denied by the bank. So for now its just a hold of 318.00 on the account.

I just talked with UPS and they said if I call tomorrow and give them the police report number, they can put a hold on the package being delivered.

Update 8: Charges have started posting on the account.
1 - Haagen Dasz - 2.22 Chicago IL
2 - Best Buy - 1199.03 Online
3 - Zales.com - 318.00 Online - Zales is telling me that this got denied but I will check on it for more info as they havent let go of the hold yet.

Update 9: Call from best buy
Got a call from best buy after I faxed the information over.
They said that they would recall the package and refund the money to the account.

Update 10: Best Buy has recalled the packages. My bank account has been credited.

was your card stolen or missing?

it seems like bb would have video footage of that purchase although i doubt they would take the time to get it.

in that case they should have the ip from which it was purchased.

definately file a police report although i dont know whose jurisdiction it would be under since it was purchased online. when my sister had her wallet stolen on an airplane it was the fbis jurisdiction.

Uhhh... follow instructions and file a police report?

if it is a bank debit card and you have already contacted your bank, then what else is there to do? the bank should follow their policy for fradulent use of debit card

hopefully you'll get your money/whatever their policy is and that will be that

You may wish to notify the local police where it was shipped to.

More than likely it was not shipped UPS, therefore the Feds are not involved.

what does UPS have to do with the Feds? If this guy had been in another state, maybe then it would require the Feds.

The USPS takes a rather dim view of people using the mail for fraud.

i think he meant USPS , if the mail was use in a crime, they can add mail fraud or something to the list of charges

great you got all that information. now give it the police and let them handle it. All you have to do is make sureyou get the bank to give you back your money.

Look what Google returns for the first phone number.

Call them and fake like it is a follow up call to see if everything is working than slam call the COPS..

PROFIT.
