Best 945P MB for overclocking

Hello!

I want to build a system based on:

E6300
1 GB DDR-667
MB with the 945P chipset

Which board would you consider best for overclocking the E6300? What would you choose between the Gigabyte GA-945P-S3 and the Asus P5LD2?

As I remember from reading this forum/articles, people only managed to get about 317 MHz FSB maximum out of 945P-based boards. That would only give you 2219 MHz CPU clock frequency.

I guess you are trying to put together a budget system?

For a budget system, take a look at AsRock 945P COnroe boards. That would save you maybe $40 compared to Asus P5LD2. That 317 MHz was actually achieved on one of AsRock boards.

after seeing that link, I should say get that Giga board and let us know Really, I would also be interested to know if any 945 board could go up to 350MHz FSB...

So take that Giga over Asus P5LD2. In fact, I am myself have Asus P5LD2 and also Asus P5LD2-VM boards, but mines are old edition that does not support C2D. I am running 2 PD 820's with those boards. And PDs are not OCed simply because they are too hot at stock.

i am using biotar tforce 945P now @ 357x7 with E6300 2.50GHZ, only problem is over 300 FSB it can't detect my SATA drive
so i am using a sata pci card , and using DDR2 - 533.

That's exactly the same overclocking rate I want to achieve with my system. You had no issue with your RAM while overclocking? Does the DDR2-533 go with the new FSB, without any trouble? Which brand is your RAM? Do you have any ideas why the SATA isn't recognized? Do you have the latest BIOS? Do you use stock cooling?

(2 x 512)

increase the ram voltage to 1.95 and it runs 1:1 no problem.

yes i am using latest bios , i think sata ports can't locked with this motherboard or chipset not sure.
