from Athlon XP to A64 939 CPU, but want to know which ones have the best value for the $, including overclocking ability (if possible). Also going to have to upgrade the RAM and mobo ;)

I'm personally aiming for the 939 3200+ because of the 10x multiplier. $40 - $50 difference between the 3000+ and the 3200+ and a $70 - $80 difference between the 3200+ and 3500+.

Nforce4 is probably a week or two away, so I'll wait. Would they really be so stupid as to miss Christmas? Nforce4 = Nforce3 rev 2 + better features. Most of the problems in NF3 should be ironed out in NF4 unless PCI-e is a problem.

Very possible, I'm now running an ATI 9600 AIW, but may want to get a 6800 depending on how Black Friday sales go ;) Most likely in the next 6 months...

Thanks for the insight Deth, very helpful. So you would recommend the Winchester core 3200+, correct? Also, do you have to do anything like the old school "pencil" technique to "unlock" these guys for overclocking?

Yes I could wait for the nForce4, but what is the best Nforce 3 mobo? Is PCI-e backwards compatible, I would assume it is...
