I would go CRAZY with that noise! I just put a rig together P4 1.8A OCed to 2.23. Case has 2 Papst 80mm fans (12dba), one exhaust, one intake. The heatsink has a panaflo l1a, 21dba and my PSU is a QuietPC PSU, <26dba.

well i guess its just what you can live with. personally i hate the quite i need the noise. i cant sleep without music playing so....

my rig is a Athlon XP 1700+ at 1800+ specs have a Sk-6 with teh delta scremer on it. and the other fans i mentioned.

i can actually hear the screamer over all the case fans

they keep my temps down my CPU is
34- idle and
38-40 under load

never seen it above 42 so im happy

Are you serious?? Go to this site and pick out the Delta fan which is right at the top of the list. Click on the green arrowhead to play the sound of the fan. It is "not quite" the same but darned close to the same noise level. It'll sound like you have a Grand Prix going on in your room!! Good luck! ;)

I'm sorry but a case with just two 80mm Deltas which spins slower than that sounds like a vacuum cleaner already... but you do get used to it... too bad the people around you doesn't.

You're not going to believe this. I was expecting a stealth fan today, and what do I get instead. That 80mm tornado fan! :Q

Oh well, it'd be good for testing I guess. Just tried it out using a 3 speed fan control and on low it is quiet enough. On medium it has that high-pitched sound. On high, hide the women and children! :D It does sound like a hair dryer but the bad thing is that high-pitched sound.

However if it helps to drown out the noise from others in your dorm, I don't blame you there. I prefer hearing my noise than someone elses.

Oh yeah, I already have this beast. Used mostly for testing of course and as a novelty. On any speed it is too loud. Cools great though. :D

yea thats thing is a beast. if it was arround when i modded my case i would have gotten one of them because they move more air the teh sunnon and Y.S tech 120mm i have

the 120s i have are like 45 decibles each so hopefully this wont be THAT much louder.

and teh delta on my SK-6 is rated at like 50 so it should fit infine

The Thermaltake Smartfan II is almost as powerful as the Delta - 75CFM, but it is adjustable so you can lower the speed and have less noise.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink! Go on with your bad self TheEvil1, and enjoy your system. :)

Does anybody know of a fan that has the same power as the Thermaltake Smartfan II and is adjustable like it but it is MANUALLY adjustable and not automatic by temperature sensor?

Enermax makes one. It comes with a little potentiometer so you can use a screwdriver to adjust the fan speed.

I got that fan but it is not as strong. Only 1000-3000 RPM and max of 40cfms.
