Best 80mm fan for XP3200 w/SLK-800?

I just built a new PC and I'm wondering if the Panaflo L1A1/SLK-800 combo that I was using on my old CPU (XP2600 266FSB version) would be good for the long haul with my new XP3200? It's currently giving me temps of 41C idle and drifts up to 45-46C under load. Since it is whisper quiet, I'm hesitant to change it but I would like for the RPM sensor to work in the mobo bios (Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe).

I looked at a few fans like the Panaflo 12H that has RPM sensing and does 40CFM (the L1A1 does about 24CFM) but it is much louder (32dBA vs. 21dBA) than the L1A1. Any ideas as to how much lower I could drive my CPU temp down compared to the gain in noise from a new fan? I'd like to hit a good balance on performance and having a relatively silent PC 😀

Look at the Vantec stealth fans. Also look at the 80mm to 92mm or 120mm adapters. With that, you could install either a 92mm or 120mm fan onto your heatsink, get more cfm and keep the db down.

If you're getting load temps of under 46C (how are you getting it to load levels?) with it as it stands, I wouldn't dick around with it. Anything under 50C under load for the XP3200+ is pretty damned good. Especially if it's relatively silent.

I just checked, the 80mm Vantec Stealth fan has a flow of 27cfm at 21db... That's more flow than you have now, at the same db level. The 92mm version has 28cfm at 20db (1db lower than the 80mm). Finally, the 120mm fan gives 53cfm at only 28db... All three of those fans are lower in db than the one you were looking at with the 120mm giving 13cfm more air than the 12h would. Not bad for an $18 fan.

The Panaflo L1A is the best fan for it. Assuming you want some degree of silence. Should keep it perfectly cool. That's what my barton uses.

Thanks for the feedback! I do think the Vantec stealth fans work really well but I will just hold on to the L1A1 since it is the more silent option. I can barely hear it, my Antect 120mm fan or the PCP&C 410 Silencer ATX PSU in my Antec P160 case 😎

I own both and even though the Vantec fan claims to be 21db, I assure you that it is much louder then the Panaflo AL1A1 with similar specs.

Yeah, 21db is only a ballpark figure. All fans output a different whine/pitch/noise. Too me, the panaflo is annoying from 2' away, but inaudible from 10' away (the 40mm screamer from my flatmates computer in the room next to mine overpowers it)
