Bob must be from New England - Pixmar ....
😉 ...
. I also have an iP3000 and it is great. Got mine when Staples had them for $60 plus a $10. gift check. It just now indicated that the magenta is running low and it really isn't that low but I ordered a replacement set (all four tanks for $11.00) from USAinkjet on eBay anyway. Sitting here waiting to print my Christmas cards as soon as the new version of PrintMaster I ordered arrives.
. Some of the print quality settings are NOT intuitive. Go to the Kodak site to determine the baseline for various papers. Use the settings for the Canon i560 as a starting point as that is the model the iP3000 replaced and it uses the same inks.
. No the Canon printers have MUCH less clogging problems than the Epsons. I tried to use some 3rd party ink in my Epson C82 and the head plugged up tight (and they are not inexpensive and easily user replaceable as are the Canon's) - no such problem with my Canons.
. And YES, real auto duplex (also works in the booklet mode) I specifically wrote newegg about their errors in the Pixma listings but they haven't changed them - but it is really slow so except for when I just need a few pages, I still use the old method - print a stack of one side, then put it back thru for the other, easily selectable in the driver.
. Great printers! Grab one if you can. Go to the Canon site to determine which model is right for your specific mix of printing.
. This week CompUSA has several Pixma models on sale. The iP4000 is probably the best all-around model in the line while the iP6000 (six-color) is better if most of your printing will be color photos. Believe it or not, PC World has the ip1500 (i45x replacement) as second on its Top Ten list... But they do weight their ratings too heavily on price.
