Best 775 Motherboard 1600fsb

I got a E8400 that's is just sitting around . I need a motherboard for it going to use water cooling so heat won't be much of a issue.

The 8400 uses 9 multiplier . I was wanting to get over 4 preferably 4.5 so I need a board that can go past 1600 bus that's stable what have you guys used ?

I also have bunch of good ddr2 left over so I would love to still be able to use it. Thanks

I'd say look for one of the upper end gigabyte or asus S775 mb's.

I have an Asus P5Q deluxe and it pushes my Q9550 to a tick above 4ghz....Thats at a fsb of 1800+ but it would require ram that can hang also. I could maybe go higher with it but I'm bored with the combo anyways 🙂

Not sure what ram you have to use....But it may limit your OC depending on speed.

So to sum it up look for something similar to my board. Don't forget to check the forsale forum also. Sometimes good deals can be had.

I have some xms ram I have had it over 1066 speeds so if I keep the board on 800 divider I think I'll be good for the most part. 1800+ is nice are you only air cooling the motherboard?

You should be good to go on the mem it looks like.

The combo is in a HAF 922 which has great airflow. The cpu is currently running on water cooling. The motherboard is currently cooled by the great airflow of the case and the Asus included mosfet fan cooler.

That's cool I'll probably end up water cooling the motherboard chips also so should be good to go thanks for your help.

If your gonna go water cooling on the MB also you may want to check into those items before you decide which board your gonna buy. Some boards will have a full board waterblock available which would make it easy to do. Some boards you'll have to get each waterblock which would make it harder.

My DFI P35 T2RS handled 1600FSB+ out of my E2140 and E6400. Note though that I am quite the DFI fanboy, so I would of course recommend any P45/X48 variant of the LP DK series. 🙂

Yeah that would be the easy route I have some small water blocks right now so either way am good. Thanks

Really that's something I wouldn't have thought off didn't think p35 could go so high.

I picked up a cheap p43 that a local store here had good price.

GA-P43-ES3G put it at 1600 right off the bat good so far . Water cooled the north bridge so it stays at like 22c.

off the top of my head, i would give the nod to the gigabyte P45 UD3P.

i have owned three P35/45 boards.

Abit IP35-e
MSI P35 Neo2-FR (rebadged P35 platinum)
MSI P45 Neo2-FR (POS)

i have tested and discovered my max stable OC's on the following chips:

ip35-e:
C0 e8400 OEM @ 4.2
G0 e6750 retail @ 3.6
B2 e6420 retail @ 3.4

p35 neo2-fr
L2 e2160 OEM @ 3.0
B2 e6420 (same one) @ 3.4
E0 q9550 retail @ 3.7

p45 neo-fr
E0 q9550 (same one) @ 3.4

I've got a P5QSE PLUS and the E8400 so far so good for a first time overclocker like me. the FSB's at 1800MHZ for a 1600FSB mobo.
I also have PNY DDR2 800MHZ RAM OC'ed to 900. stable at 4.050GHZ

have a Gigabyte P45 UD3P running at 432 FSB. pretty sure I could push FSB higher but don't care about tweaking OC further.

NB voltage is 1.2V. RAM used is Corsair Dominator 1066 TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF. heatsink is warm at best doing the touch test while running linpack.

Gigabyte EP45-UD3P is good. Lots of mobos will get you into the 1800 FSB range... I just built a system with a DFI Lanparty x48 T2RSB-Plus, and it OC's like mad too.

My advice: if you are going to OC the CPU that much, why not let your memory OC with it? Lots of people will buy the DDR2 800 ram from you. Sell it and pick up some 1066 or 1100 memory. It is worth putting another $25 in the system to get the memory ramped up. IMO.

EP45-UD3P. 450+ usually, 500+ fairly common

I've been thinking about selling mine and going i5... PM me if you're interested 😉

If you want official 400fsb support you need x48, otherwise P45 is fine.

My old MSI P45 Neo3-FR did 650FSB stable and my P35 Neo2-FR did 575FSB stable.

yeah, the ep45-ud3p is probably the best board i have ever used. i used to own asus but i officially switched to gigabyte.
