Hello,

For a long time I was ready to get the 6800 Ultra card but after reading about the cards out it seems the Ultra will give me no more than and extra DVI out. I plan on running one of the new 23" Apple displays and that was my reasoning for wanting the Ultra. Now I'm thinking the BFG 6800 GT OC is my best bet, now if I could just find one. BFG is OC and has a warranty plus it gets great reviews.
Am I wrong?

Any opinion would be helpful, flames will be considered as comedy

BFG 6800 GT OC = higher performing, better customer support, a true lifetime warrenty (unlike PNY), when compared to other 6800GTs, if you can find one and it is not outrageously priced, it is the better buy.

BFG because of their true lifetime warranty. Although I have a PNY only because BFG was out of stock.
But I normally upgrade within 2 yrs so PNY warranty is good enough for me.

paradoxically, the fact that the BFG card is pre-overclocked actually appeals to less technically savvy gamers, that is people that frown upon doing the overclocking themselves. This is surprising because BFG is a "gamers company", but I would think a lot of serious PC gamers have no problem overclocking their GPUs, so for them there is no advantage to the minor pre-overclock of the BFG.

Hey, it's a free, guaranteed, under warranty overclock. I'll take it.

I'll poke my head in here because I've been brooding for the past month over which card to get for the Doom 3/HL2 era.

Is "BFG" the actual manufacturer's name? Or does it stand for something? For some reason I always figured it stood for "Big fvcking green" card. heh.

Replace green with gun. (Think about the Quake\Doom gun called the BFG).

I believe that "BFG" is what used to be called Visiontek, whom went belly up if you all remember.

Edit; If I am wrong, please correct me.

No, two separate companies. A couple ex-Visiontek employees along with some others started BFG.
