Best 6600GT Brand

I was planning on buying the Leadtek PX6600 GT but couldn't find it anywhere. Whats the next best brand that would be good for overclocking etc?

You mean this Leadtek 6600GT AGP that's in stock at Newegg? 😉

After Leadtek, I'd go MSI or BFG. The MSI cooler connects the memory and GPU so the fan works to cool both. Although, the shroud design of the Rosewill's also looks interesting.

hehehe thatd be stupid of me if i was wrong huh? 😱 but i'm looking for the PCI/e PX6600 GT TDH not the A6600 GT TDH 🙂

they have a refurbished one at Newegg but i dont know how reliable refurbished ones are.

i heard the MSI and BFG ones had problems w/ their heatsinks. Has that been fixed yet?
Are Rosewill's any good at all? I've never seen a review on them. I'll take a look though.

Thanks though.

id go for evga then if leadtek is mia and you have issues with the bfg and msi cooling... i think its the only other real choice 😉

I don't think there's a damn difference between any of these cards. Some sites praise XFX, some Leadtek, some MSI. WTF, it's the same basic card and they all oc to within 10mhz of each other. Get the cheapest one from a store with a good return policy and game away.

Also, I see now the PX in your first post, I didn't know tht meant PCI-E, my bad.

hahah best advice yet! 😉 i think i am gonna just find the cheapest one with the best return policy. Most likely it'll end up being the eVGA one.

thanks

Nice thing about eVGA is that you can upgrade within 90 days through their trade-up program and, if not, you get a 2 year warranty by registering. You never know if NVidia will try to answer the X800XL with something between a 6800GT and 6600GT......hmmmm now what would that be called? *Wonders*

Keep an eye out for the return of the Leadtek card next week. A couple of etailers (newegg included) had an ETA of March 31. Newegg only recently pulled the listing altogether, which may be what the system is designed to do.

I'm going to wait one more week.

But it's not, because it is still an OC and even though it's a small OC, it's still an OC. I think the same heatsink would have been there anyway, so why not OC and make some extra profit on the side(or up front).

I don't mind it though, their warranty is great, even though most of the people who buy from them won't be retard customers who keep their video card for 10,000 years before it dies.

so the leadtec is the best of the 6600GT cards?

I don't think there is a "best" card. There are several good ones. Leadtek is good, BFG is supposedly good too. Depends what you want. Leadtek packages some games with theirs. Not sure about BFG. Leadtek is supposedly the quietest card, if that is important to you.

i would like quiet but if its at the cost of a quality card then i wouldnt want it.... is there one card that bench's higher than the others or has the best cooling solution?

from my understanding, all VGA cards are the same, simply a GPU, some memory chip, and a PCB, as long as the specs are the same, performance difference would be minimal. (except for downgraded Memory)
What i do is to get the cheapest one available from newegg.com, coz i am sure that they will take care of your RMA when things happen. Those name brand manufacturer sell at higher simply becasue they offer longer warranty, hire more tech support people, and do more marketing promotion. And i want to pay what i get, not what they get.
