just bought a new motherboard that has no isa slot for my usr sportster. now i'm looking for a new modem to hold me over until earthlink get their stuff together to hook up the dsl (it's been over two months). any suggestions on a great modem with data fax video and voice? is the creative modem blaster usb any good?

I feel a WinModus(tm) post coming up in the near future.

Anymore, I'd probably have to agree with most of what he'll say. A good Winmodem with a Lucent LT or Conexant (formerly Rockwell) chipset would do just fine if you're exclusively a Windows user. They achieve pings and download speeds very similar to higher-priced hardware modems at a fraction of the cost. Just avoid the really cheap HSP modems. They lack a DSP (used for "data-pumping") and are totally software-emulated.
