Best $500 TV audio system.

Just as the title says. I'm looking for a good, $500 home audio system for the TV.

Yeah, you really need to provide more info on what you're looking for. If it's just "i want the best sound for $500." Then I'd probably recommend either a stereo or 2.1 system.

If you want 5.1 now and aren't planning to put more money into it soon, get a
refurb Denon 1612 (~$211 shipped)
plus
Monoprice 5.1 speakers (~$289 shipped) -- these seem to be Energy Take Classic 5.1 knockoffs

A roll of 16gauge speaker wire will put you a few bucks over budget, but not by much.

2.1 preferably. It will be used mainly for music, movies and TV. Sorry. I should have been more specific.

and while it sounds great. I'm not sure it's $500+ worth of sound. Maybe it's just me. Laugh at me if you will lol.

I have a Sony sound bar and sub. Think that package runs about $200. I like it. But I'm not big into audio. I just watch movies on it.

Its far from surround sound but good enough for my bedroom.

EDIT: If you like the Bose system that you've got why bother changing? Or are you still able to return the Bose?

Yeah I am. I like the Bose. I'm just wondering if I can get anything more for the same price range. Space isn't a massive concern I guess. Just not much bigger than the Bose I have now which is pretty decent size

Seriously, get the 5.1 setup I linked.

Or, same AVR, these Pioneer 4" speakers ($50FS), and this 12" sub ($145 shipped).

It's exactly $500 and will be much better than the bose. I got some white plastic tubes with two sided tape from home depot that you put just above the baseboards to wire the rear speakers.

Don't get a sound bar. A 2.1 system is better if you don't want rear speakers.
