Best 5.1 speakers for my X-Gamer 5.1 under $200USD

Title says it all.

Looking for best 5.1 system within my budget. Have heard good things about MidiLand, although ppl recommend the 7100PLUS, which is over $200.. what's the diff between the regular 7100 and 7100 plus. My card does software decoding (right?) so do i even need a hardware decoder? Please enlighten me.. thanx

I got the Yamaha TSS-1's for about ~$165USD. Pretty nice set. It comes with a DD5.1/DTS decoder, but if your card already has it, you might find a better deal on a decoder-less 5.1 set somewhere else.

For under $200? The BostonAcoustics BA4800's are the best speakers for that money, no question about it.

Buuuuut, for just $100 more, you could have a superior performing setup with a set of Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's. (Sorry guys...could NOT resist that one!)

Well.. I mean I thought all of the SB Live! 5.1 series cards were able to do software decoding... hence they work with decoder-less speakers such as the POS Creative DTT's and such... but how about with other brands? I'm not quite sure how SB Live achieves the 5.1 / decoding. If u know please post the answer.

u can buy the midiland 7100plus from midiland.com for 199

i prefer them over the ba4800s without a second thought...

Does your card have 6 analog outputs? If not you will need an external decoder to get true 5.1 sound. The Cambridge Soundworks series DTT2500 and higher have the separate decoder, but I wasn't aware you could get Dolby Digital 5.1 for the lower models.

he's looking for 5.1 speakers, BA4800 and PM4.1 are not valid.

As KingofComputer has astutely pointed out, the subject DOES say "5.1" system. Pass the crow, please...my original response was inappropriate.

Buuuuuuut, Klipsch just happens to have a 5.1 system for sale! Way more than $200 though. I believe reading that it was about $350 or so.

let's try to find some cheap 5.1 speakers.

if you're in asia, you can easily find many cheapy no brand under $200 5.1 speakers set with 6ch analog input only.

I might be wrong, but I think the 5.1 xgamer and mp3+ cards share the subwoofer and center channel output, so you won't get true 5.1 sound with speakers that have analog 5.1 inputs, unless you get Creative speakers...

If your speakers have 5.1 analog outputs the Regular Midiland 7100 are fine. The 7100Plus have a hardware decoder, the 7100s don't.

Well for example, the Cambridge DTT2200 digitals don't have an external decoder, yet boast true 5.1 sound.. and i'm thinking its because these speakers and card are made for each other. But if i get say the midilands with no decoder (regular 7100s) would they still work or would it screw up with sub and center like sugadaddy mentioned.

7100 plus for $199 now that's just $1 under my budget thanks for the heads up
