just bought new creative sound blaster live platinum 5.1, now need great pair of 5.1 speakers. Don't want to spend more than 300-325$ on line order. Heard good things about midiland 8200's and the new
creative DTT 3500. Any reviews or personnal experience would be greatly helpful

I'm thinking of the exact same setup, Platinum 5.1 and Midiland S4 8200.

I've got the Midiland's on order, and when the Platinums come to Toronto I'll buy that too :)

I think this is a good setup, probably the only way you could get a significantly better system was to start connecting to real 5.1 receivers and buying basically a home system.

What you are planning to do sounds good, whatever choice you pick will make you happy!

Gamer's Depot has a review of the DTT3500s. They look adequate if not great. The 3500s and the 2200s are designed to accept 5.1 digital sound from the new Live! 5.1 cards. The older DTT2500s are designed to pickup only 4.1 sound from the digital DIN input port (but they can still throw sound out to all 6 speakers, just not "pure" digital sound from the digital DIN connection...I believe you're forced to use a CMSS sound field if you want 5.1 sound).

I ordered a Live! 5.1, too but only have the DTT2500s. It's a workable combination just not the ideal combination. No biggie for me as I have yet to play a DVD movie on my PC or anything Dolby Digital/AC-3 for that matter.
