Best 5.1 speaker recommendations?

Howdy,

I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5.1 speaker system for my PC. I'd prefer to spend under $300, but could probably go up to $350 if it's worthwhile.

The main contenders I've been considering are the Logitech Z-680, Cambridge Soundworks 510D, and Klipsch Promedia 5.1. The Klipsch are borderline too pricey (but I can be convinced they're worth it), so I guess mainly it's between the 510D's and the Z-680's, unless you guys have some other suggestions.

What do you think? Any good speaker comparison reviews out there?

I will not make any specific recommendation but I have two points of advice.

Firstly If you are intersted in the cambridge soundwork line definatly check out the newer 550 model versus the older 510d

Secondly check out 3dSoundsurge expecially the forum, as it is a great resource.

It's best to listen to the various speakers yourself, but the Klipsch PM 5.1s are really sweet, IMO. The only beef I have with them is the "jumpy" control pod, I hear that the Z680's have the same issue though.

TechTV recommends the Klipsch PM 5.1 for their UGM 6.0, but I simply can't imagine spending $350+ on a speaker system.

Maybe if I was using the PC as part of a multimedia center, I'd feel differently. But in the small "office" I have in my house for my PC, these speakers are total overkill.

My pick

This system, has 6 inputs, so you can hook a sound card up to it, or hook up digital in, if you sound card can output dolby or dts sound, anyway I am gonna get it I think/

I hear ya, but for that situation any 5.1 system would likely be overkill.
