Best 4.1, 5.1 computer speakers?

I'm looking for some mid-range computer speakers, somewhere in the ballpark of 400 watts of max poser, something comparable to the Altec Lansing 641 Ultimate. I'm looking to pay no more than $120, maybe a little bit more, but not much. Any sugesstions?

Videologic Siroccos <- prolly the very best out so far.

Swans M20-5.1 <- these look pretty nice too.

I second the awesomeness of the MegaWorks; however, they may be out of you price range. When I bought mine (late July) they were $200US.

Alot of people don't like it that they have a more neutral sound to them, but I favor it.

The subwoofer is awsome as well, it's like it's not even in the room, yet it's sound is just right and blends perfect into a single sounding system rather than satelites, and then you hear the booming sub and can locate the sounds sepereately.

To each their own, thats why they make those booming Logitecs for the people who prefer that kind of sound.

Yes! That nice blend of the subwoofer and satellites is what I love about them as well as the smooth and punchy bass. Actually, I think these do in fact sound best with all my Audigy 2 ZS settings at their defaults. My old T5400s were nothing like that, very separate and boomy. I also like the nice remote these come with; very easy to control and options for master, center, rear, bass, and treble. I would recommend the MegaWorks if you can find a lower price for them or are willing to spend the money for them, they are well worth it.

i agree with that as well as the creative megaworks.
Logitech have a boomier base as stated above, but have pretty good sound quality overall. I've seen in hot deals that these are in the sub100 dollar range now.

I would get an Onkyo reciever, and use it with some really nice speakers. Use a S/PDIF connection, and you'll get some great sound. I have some Advents from the 70's that still work great...

Given the OP's budget, a receiver and HT speakers may be out of his league. It would be a very good choice, though, given the budget was large enough unless there are very cheap receivers and speakers available.

I have the altec lansing 641 4.1 set, and it is definitely the best system i've been around for the money. The sub is louder than my home theater system, the sound quality and loudness is just amazing. I had a friend who works in the recording industry listen to the system and said it was by far one of the best he had ever heard, said it rivals the klipsch system.
