As the topic says I'm looking for a 1080p LCD for gaming and Blu-ray. How do the current models stack up? What models are the best for the money? I require 1080p for my Bly-ray viewing. I also watch some ova and satellite tv as well which I know favors plasma but I still think an LCD would fit my needs better for the money. I just don't know the current models and how they rate against eachother.

Fwiw: I think 32" is the best size for the room it will be going in.

Thanks in advance

I've been researching 32" to 37" LCD because I'm also in the market for one. Panasonic models like the TX-37LZD85, TX-37LZD800 and TX-32LZD85 have very good reviews.

If you are going to make the jump to 37, 40" is a must in my opinion. There is quite an image quality difference from almost every manufacturer between the 37 and 40s they make for some reason. The only 37s I will directly recommend are the Panasonics.

Still first choice:
Samsung 40A550 (If you can find one of those deals on the 40A500's that popped up for a while jump on it)
also
Sony 40V4100 (Overpriced IMO, the S4100 doesn't compare to the Sammy though)
Sharp is a company that has been slacking lately to me. They price like they are still elite, but they have not been improving their technology like the rest.

For under 40"
Panasonic 37LZ85 and 37LZ800

I know it's not the best quality, but Tiger Direct has a Sceptre 32" 1080p for $500 that I've been eyeing

While I don't agree with that article a whole lot on all the manufacturers there, because some have responded, I will say I owned a 42" Sceptre for about 3 months (From Costco thank god), and it was the biggest piece of ****. It made the Vizio that replaced it look like a Pioneer.

I was recently in the market for a 37" 1080p as well. I had narrowed it down to Sharp or Toshiba based mostly off of reviews on NewEgg. Our previous TV was an old 27" CRT-based Phillips... my wife's brother didn't have a TV at all, so one day we gave him ours while he was over and then had to go out and buy a new one for ourselves the next day. I couldn't find either of the 37" models from Newegg in stock at any of the local stores (Best Buy, Circuit City, Tiger Direct, etc...), so we ended up with a 40" Toshiba from Sears for about $800 after 10% for opening a Sears card. I'm pretty happy with the TV, though, to be honest, I probably would have been happy with any HDTV from a decent brand.
