Machine will be run through my main stereo system for criticle listening but I need speakers for the PC for monitoring, so they don't need to be mega $$$.

Doesn't need to do 20Hz at 85dB or anything just adequate bass for music listening.

I want a 3 piece sub/sat system, I have been looking at the creative three piece, black, 2 sat, with wooden sub.

I don't want any rear/center speakers as it'd be a waste already having a hometheatre setup.

Main uses: mixing, editing, mp3's

Like I say I just want something to monitor the sound as it'll also be run through my B&W's of my main hifi system (which is behind me).

Only other requirement is the sub is not to be very big.

I'm also after a sound card but I'll leave that for another thread, I will use onboard sound for now. Do I go for another SBLive....hmmmm

Thanks

Well Klipsch 2.1s are always a good 3 piece solution, and you can't go wrong with a SBLive.

Those klipsh are nice but I was thinking cheaper as they wont be my main set, I want to spend no more than about £80 ($120)

Thanks

I just built a system using the Altec Lansing ATP3's. Generally, I'm not a big Altec fan. But I was pretty impressed with this setup. At $79 US, I don't think they can be beat.

Maybe a better option, if they are in your budget... Boston Acoustics BA04800's. They can be had in the US for $130. Sure, they are 4.1 speakers, but just put the other two on the desktop, or don't even hook them up (or ship them to me for free! ;)). I'm not sure how much they will run you in your hometown, though.

Both of the above options are significantly better than the Creative speakers.

And be sure you consider the Santa Cruz, or as it's called in Europe, the Sonic Fury. It's an excellent sound card.

Not sure if they are in your price range, but I am running the BA digital media theaters and they are awesome.

Boston Acoustics Digital MediaTheater can be had for less than $100 and they have a smooth natural sound. I run a set on the TV/DVD for a poor man approach to home theater. It sounds great. The Boston Acoustics BA735 can be had for $50. They have the same smooth sound they are smaller with less base/volume.
Can't go wrong with SBLive.

Is the Santa Cruz called the Sonic Fury here in Europe, no wonder I couldn't find it, DOH!!

The company I buy most of my bits from has Turtle Beach stuff but no listing of SC, just Montegeo.

I did'nt think the Sonic Fury was made by turtlebeach, could somebody please explain.

Does the SC (SF) actaually sound better? Bearing in mind I play very little games on the comp would it be a good buy, what are the drivers like? Does it have less/more compatability probs than the SBLive?

Many thanks

Oh ok....then why not one of the 3 peice systems from Altec Lansing? They make good speakers. (Like Modles: ACS295, ACS 45-2, ACS48, ATA70).
