Trust me, I tried, i had about 6 fans, arctic silver 5, my board's temp was always at 37 max, but there is no cooling that sucker down!!!!

I heard the following:
The 4200+ and 4400+ are 2200Mhz each.
The 4600+ and 4800+ are 2400Mhz each.

The 4200+ has 512kb level 2 cache on each core
The 4400+ has 1mb level 2 cache on each core
The 4600+ has 512kb level 2 cache on each core
The 4800+ has 1mb level 2 cache on each core.

so technically the 4400+ would be the wise choice
forgive my ignorance but i have been intel all my life, ghz is what mattered to me the most, which i just learned is the least of your performance issues.

my questions is, is the 4400+ better than the 4600+ in this case? Is cache more important than ghz in this case? And how much real time performance is the 4800+ than the 4400+ with only 200 Mhz difference?

I read a review somewhere it might have been here on anantech but not sure. But anyhow an Opteron kicked a G5's ass in almost everything. But it can go against a pentium-4 and Xeon pretty well. But Opteron still win's

get an x2 4800+ and put it on liquid cooling, or if you have the money go phase change, or how about liquid nitrogen? wait I forgot you are making no exceptions, so put it on liquid helium!! With liquid helium, DFI SLI-DR, and some ocz pc-4800 platinum, you could easily get around 3.4 GHz. about 600 mhz faster than a fx-57 and dual core to boot!
