I'm looking at the evga 560ti superclocked (900 MHz) for $250. I'm gaming at 1680x1050 so I can't see a need for a 2gb 6950. Is this the right card to be lo
oking at?

6950 1gb if you dont need the 2gb.

You can manually OC it to run as fast as an OC 6970. So the question really is do you want 560 ti OC performance or do you want 6970 OC performance. Do some research.

Gee thanks, that's why I'm on here asking questions. I'm hesitant when it comes to stuff like you're talking about after my experience with the 720 (couldn't unlock 4th core or successfuly oc), but I haven't looked into unlocking the 6950 either.

At your resolution, a gtx560ti will probably run everything silky smooth. :)

Only reason I suggested the 560ti to my friend over the 6950 because there were confirmed issues with ATI drivers on Paradox games (which he can't get enough of).

Aside from that, it's red vs green.

You don't need to unlock shaders.

Just overclock the core and ram speed, with most 3rd party software easily done.
