Hi, I'm about to buy a new Monitor for my new pc.
I'm going like almost everyone in these days to an LCD 24''.
The purpose of this monitor should be: Gaming, and Photoshop / Premiere After Effect.

So I will need a fast monitor but also with good color reproduction.

I know it's full of good 24'' expensive that perform really well but i'm searching in the budget area.
I hope to find here someone who can give me some advice.
Thank you.

Some of the monitor I'm looking to:

BenQ G2400WD

Samsung SyncMaster 245B plus

LG Electronics Flatron W2452T-PF

Iiyama ProLite B2403WS-B1 (The best for gaming but seem poor in reproduction)

Dell UltraSharp E248WFP

Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM

p.s. At the moment I'm oriented in Samsung 2493HM

I've had a great experience with my Soyo 24" LCD from OfficeMax. However I've heard that the new Soyo LCDs no longer use the 8-Bit S-PVA panel that mine has, so that one can be hit or miss. It was $299 when I bought it.

Out of the monitor you have selected, you really can't go wrong with a Dell, Samsung or LG monitor. My pick would be the LG, as I've heard it has a nice picture and a very fast refresh rate.

Sorry to break this to you man, but you can't pick both FAST and COLOR DEPTH in the LCD world without breaking the piggy bank.

S-PVA panels will give you good color and view angles.

TN panels will give you fast response in games but crappy color (mainly poor black/gray) and poor view angle.

So take your pick and go from there.

Personally, I have the Dell 24" 2008WFP with S-PVA and I love the color. I have no problem with lag in my gaming either, not that I tell with my naked eyes. I'm very happy with my Dell.

If you want more & better LCD, be prepared to steup up to the 30" realm and break out the piggy bank.

Otherwise, take your pick (S-PVA or TN), or get a 21" CRT if you still can find one!

Well the E248WFP is not an "Ultrasharp" model...the 2408WFP is the "Ultrasharp" model

I looked at a lot of TN panels before I found my Dell S-PVA panel and I have to say, TNs are OK for working tasks (oh, and for gaming, which I basically don't do) but terrible for anything else. The Dell E248WFP is probably best for those on a budget and that's what I'd recommend.

I have two Samsung SyncMaster 245BW´s and they have served me very well. The first for 9 months and the second for just over 30 days. The gaming experience (C&C 3, Supreme Comander, and kids stuff) is very nice. Have not had any experince with FPS´s.
Used to have a 19" CRT and the colors were fading fast. I saw a lot of difference and it might have been because the age of my faithfull CRT was above 5 years. The wide format is also that I only would miss after having experienced it. I will not go back to 4:3 ratio.

Maybe I should go to something like the LG W2600HP-BF - 26'' with S-IPS Panel.
What you think.
Will 26'' be good as the 24''?

An S-IPS would absolutely destroy a TN or PVA in terms of IQ
