based on the usage, is the dell 2407 the best bet?

edit: want component or hdmi video input. WILL NOT BUY A WESTINGHOUSE LCD.

SPVA. It's supposed to be newer rev of the 2405 I had but did'nt like at all.. I hate SPVA because all gets 'whitish' with even a slight tilt off center all directions, the viewing angles were so bad that each eye sees something different making it appear as glare. I simply couldn't tolerate this. Move an inch right or left and it got much worse. YMMV but IPS does'nt have this problem. Also IPS is faster more flatter respose curve and better color.

You can see here IPS is best and VA horrible glare. (see two at bottom and that's only about 40 degrees

The HP L2335 uses the same IPS panel as the Sony but includes many more features - tilt/height adjustable stand, PIP and cheaper.

its for my friend, he doesnt play fps games. it will be a comcast hd box and his computer hooked up to the monitor. i said get the 24" dell. Zebo, do you think the sony is that much better?? i need to sell him on it.

Dell is'nt a bad choice.. definty top 5 and looks best ergonomics wise IMO and great warranty. No worries for a non heavy gamer. Also has HDCP and HDMI as requested.
