So i finally pulled the trigger on my new build and now I am looking for a new monitor.

I have a 19" Samsung 906BW now but i want a 24 for gaming. I want to use the 24 as my primary display and have the 19 open for programs like itunes and ventrillo while I am playing.

Will the display be awkward or distorted if i have a 24" with a 19" on the side?

I read some places that some monitors dont really have a true high defiinition and that this is only achieved with a 1:1 ratio of some sort. Any way, price is no option, im just wondering what 24" LCDs are the best.

Might be better off making a new topic over in Video cards and Graphics, xknight will be able to help you and you'll get more responses. Also read the sticky that is there for monitor choices.

My vote goes to the Gateway one that I have, listed in my sig. It is a 24" it does the 1:1 aspect ratio, has hdmi, component, composite, svideo connections. I test drove just about all of them I could find a few months ago and I decided this was the best one, colors are so vivid. Only thing some might not like is the rather glossy screen. I think it goes for around 400 now. I have tried it together with my 22" sceptre on the side and it looks alright but it just wasn't functional for me using 2 monitors I'm more keen to just using 1.

I run on two monitors and I will never go back to using one. I have a 19" wide and a 4:3 19" next to each other. It works great for when I play older games I can run them on the 4:3 monitor. Also you get so much more screen space. I am an accountant, so I can have my excel spread sheet on one screen and my client information on the other. It is really useful.

Your video card allows you to set the resolution on each monitor independently, I guess that is what you meant by the display being awkward or distorted?

Any way I recommend you get the 24" inch Soyo from Office Max which keeps popping up in the hot deals forum.

I run dual monitor with a 24" widescreen (the Soyo suggested above, but beware that newer ones have been surfacing as Tn panels unlike the early P-MVA one that I have) as my primary and a 20" widescreen on the side and both are set to their native resolutions after tinkering with the nvidia drivers for a bit.

Works great for exactly what you're thinking about doing. I game on the 24" and have Vent/internet/winamp/stuff open on the side that I can move to easily by playing in window mode.
