best 24" 1920x1200 ips ?

I'm looking at DELL U2412M
Is this the best one ?

price range would be under $500 after tax and shipping
also is there any noticeable difference between h-ips s-ips p-ips ?

You might want to take a look at the HP zr24w and the Dell u2410 too. What will you be using the monitor for - photo editing, games, etc.?

Bleeding not bad at all. No bad pixels. Good viewing angles. Readable with sun on it. Very good height/tilt adjustments. Haven't tested gaming/ghosting. Coming from a 17" CRT, so 1200 feels much better than 1080.

Quite small pixel cells - almost went with the Planar 27" on sale a while ago, but it would have dominated the room even more. This I can put close enough to me so I don't need a 30" deep desk.

ZR2440w

not sure about the exact differences, but they all seem to be $100 more than the dell

also I forgot to mention led back light is important

I suppose I could just consider the HP and Dell models based on price

I don't game much (at most once a week)
I do programming and lots of reading.
Screen real estate(1920x1200 is a ~30% downgrade, i'll have to live with that....), ease on the eyes, and power usage are important to me.

The ZR24W is the replacement for the LP2475W. The ZR2240W is a 22". The ZR2440W is the latest release.

Also I orders through dell small business. One monitor arrived with a small mark on the front. They overnighted me a replacement. Amazing service IMO

The differences in <$500 IPS 24" 1920x1200 monitors is small compared to PVA vs. IPS or TN vs. anything. Most of the "issues" you see on the forums about these monitors will not bother anyone coming from TN.

Unless you get a screen with a huge scratch in it, or bent in half, you'll be too busy looking at the amazing color differences to notice that a 3" triangle on the upper right is 0.5&#37; dimmer than the rest when you display a pure white image and turn out all the lights in the room.

i can't speak for the other HP models, but the ZR24W has an 8-bit color s-IPS panel while the Dell U2412M only has a 6-bit color e-IPS panel, which explains a good part of the price difference. the more comparable Dell is the U2410, which also has an 8-bit color s-IPS panel. its usually more expensive than the ZR24W, but goes on sale quite often at dell.com for just over $400 shipped (+ tax) via coupon code.

i'm currently using the U2412M, and i like it. i think i would love it if i could calibrate it, or at least in the mean time load a tried and true profile from tft central or something...but i have to figure out how to do that first.
